Spiritual Tools for Spiritual Things
“But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18 WEB)
A tool can’t do more than its limited capabilities. A physical mirror can only show you what is physical—your flawed body.
However the Scriptures are like a spiritual mirror that allows you to see beyond just the body—it discerns your soulish thoughts and even reveals your spirit which is as perfect and complete as Jesus Himself.
When you see Jesus in the word—how glorious, excellent, beautiful, majestic and perfect He is, that is how your spirit is like—remade in His image!
When you gaze at your perfected spirit, your soul and body can’t help but also be transformed into its likeness—attaining that godlike quality, free from the taint of sin and death.
The word “transformed” in the verse above is metamorphoó in Greek, from where we get the word metamorphosis.
When the Holy Spirit transforms you, you are like a a caterpillar breaking out of its cocoon, becoming a beautiful butterfly.
You can’t revert back to your ugly form, and you just become more and more glorious, shining with Jesus’ glory!
Just as the Scriptures are a spiritual mirror, we cannot use our eyes of flesh and heart of flesh to see and believe it.
Many times, the New Testament is talking about our spirit’s eyes and heart. Our spirit is the one that has God’s genetic code (His seed).
Scan your body and you won’t find it—it’s all in your spirit.
We have to use the eyes of our spirit to see and then believe what the Scriptures tell us about who we are and what we have in Christ.
“having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,” (Ephesians 1:18 WEB)
Everything starts in the inward spirit before it is manifested in the outward body.
Look beyond the veil of your flesh and see the glorious truth which is your glorious spirit—as Jesus is, so are you (the spirit) in this world.
Your body is not you—it is the temporary tent you live in. The power to renovate and beautify your house comes from seeing and believing in the spirit!
